General FAQ’s
Every unit of donated blood undergoes rigorous screening for blood type (ABO and Rh), compatibility, and infectious diseases including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, syphilis, and malaria, ensuring only safe, compatible blood reaches patients.
Crossmatching is a compatibility test performed between donor and recipient blood to confirm they are compatible before transfusion. This critical step helps prevent transfusion reactions and ensures patient safety during the procedure.
We prepare and provide various blood components including Packed Red Cells, Platelets, Fresh Frozen Plasma, and Cryoprecipitate, allowing clinicians to select the specific component needed based on the patient’s condition.
Apheresis is a process that separates and collects specific blood components, such as platelets, while returning the remaining blood to the donor. Plateletpheresis is particularly valuable for patients with low platelet counts, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or with certain blood disorders.
Our Blood Bank maintains a well-organized inventory and operates 24/7, allowing us to respond swiftly to emergency transfusion needs. Availability depends on blood type and current stock, so contacting us directly ensures the fastest response.
